Celtic Brunch & Mists of Avalon (Update)

Posted in Music: Celtic, Medium: Scheduled at 5:25 pm by rudy

Walt Haake produced his excellent Mists of Avalon program weekly for several years, but eventually reached the point that he needed to reduce the workload. So WDVR radio changed the name of the program to Celtic Brunch, and divided up the hosting duties three ways. Now Walt, Carla Van Dyk, and Diana Jordan take turns doing a program of Celtic music in the time slot. Walt still does his Mists of Avalon program when he’s on on the fourth Saturday of each month. Here’s the info, to the best of my understanding:

Listen Live: mms://win2.fast-serv.com/wdvr24
Program airs Sundays, 1100-1300 local time (EDT), or 15h00-17h00 GMT

Mists of Avalon appears to be the fourth Sunday of each month and is available full-time in the archive

Thistle & Shamrock Station Finder

Posted in Music: Celtic, Medium: Scheduled at 7:38 pm by rudy

One of the site’s users (thanks, Ben) has pointed out a station-finder page for the Thistle & Shamrock program on NPR. This is mostly useful for finding live stations in your area that carry the program (there are many dozens of stations that carry it). I don’t see an easy way to find internet feeds for the station this way, but it’s still useful.

Anyway, here’s the URL: http://www.npr.org/wheretohear/index.php?prgId=34 .

Celtic WebRadio Sites Blog and RSS Feed

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:22 pm by rudy

I’m creating a blog and RSS feed for my Celtic WebRadio Sites website. I previously had an RSS feed, but shortly after I started it, I had a hard-drive crash that caused me to lose the (rather primitive) implementation mechanism I was then using. Dealing with the adverse effects of the crash took many weeks, and I somehow didn’t get around to setting up the RSS feed again.

This time around, I’m using WordPress, which is an excellent blogging, RSS, and podcasting tool.

My hope is to post one or two messages per week to this blog, each presenting a WebRadio broadcast site or podcast dealing with Celtic languages or music. Comments are welcome.
