I, Matthew Farrell, in Grand Island, of the County of Hall, and State of Nebraska, being of sound mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, do make and publish my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: First. I direct that my funeral charges, the expenses of administering my estate, and all my debts be paid out of my personal property. Second. I give and bequeath to . . . John A. Boyle, my son [sic], One Dollar ($1.00), and this shall be the only bequest to the aforesaid John A. Boyle. Third. I give and bequeath to Ada Halm, my son the sum of One Dollar ($1.00), and this shall be the only bequest to the aforesaid Ada Halm. Fourth. I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal to my two beloved children, Thomas Farrell and Kate Kehoe, nee Kate Farrell, and now the wife of Ed Kehoe, share and share alike. In case either one of my last two mentioned children shall die in my life time, leaving issue or descendants, I direct that his share shall not lapse but shall be paid to such descendants in equal proportions. Fifth. I appoint my friend, John Hugg, executor of this last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name this 22nd day of July, 1913. | HRR Detail | 27 Apr 1922 | Columbus Daily Telegram, Columbus, Platte Co., Nebraska, USA, Obituary, Matthew Farrell Funeral of Veteran -- The body of the late Matthew Farrell, veteran of the civil war and pioneer of the Shell creek community, whose death occurred at the old soldiers' home in Grand Island, arrived in Columbus on the Union Pacific local yesterday afternoon and was taken from here to the Catholic Church in Platte Center where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fr. Laborius. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. C.J. Carrig, R.C. Reagn, Ed Rossiter, P.J. McCaffrey, Adam Smith and John McPhillips, the latter from Joliet township, acted as pall bearers. Members of the family who were here to attend the funeral were Mr. Farrell's two sons, John and Tom Farrell, of Cavour, S.D., and his daughter, Mrs. Ed. Keogh, and husband, of Frontier county.10 |
